Items Not Scanning Properly in the POS App
-
Verify the bar code has been entered correctly in the Back Office. This includes entering all numbers on the bar code, including the leading check digit, manufacturer and item code, and trailing check digit in one string. (i.e. 123456789012).
|
The bar code scanner used with the POS app can read 1-D bar codes that are made up of alphanumeric characters only. If you are having difficulty entering the bar codes for your items, you can use the POS app to dynamically scan the bar code for your item and enter the item details directly into the POS app. On the next data sync, the POS app will push the new bar code to the Back Office. |
-
Verify the item has been downloaded from the Back Office to the POS.
-
From the POS app Main Menu, tap the
icon in the upper-right corner of the screen to open the POS Settings screen.
-
Tap View more details under Data sync.
-
- Tap the Sync now button.
This feature is only available on the iOS platform.
On-Screen Keyboard Not Displaying when Using the Bar Code Scanner
If you are using the Bluetooth bar code scanner, and your POS device is not displaying the on-screen keyboard, you need to set the scanner back to the iOS mode. To do this:
-
Power on the bar code scanner and scan the iOS Mode bar code on page 6 of the Quick Start Guide.
-
Confirm that the bar code scanner has reconnected with the iPad by going back to the Settings screen and tapping Bluetooth, and then. tapping Socket CHS once it appears. The scanner will beep once to confirm the connection.
The scanner essentially operates in two modes -- the iOS mode (which we need for the POS app) and the Human Interface Device (HID) mode. When the scanner is in the HID mode, the iPad "sees" it as a keyboard, so that is why the on-screen keyboard does not display.
